The 1970s and 1980s were an exciting time for a young archaeologist working in Lincolnshire. Although I was guided by my supervisor Jeffrey May much of my inspiration came from Francis Pryor, Charly French and Maisie Taylor who were excavating just over the county border in Cambridgeshire at Etton, Fengate, Flag Fen and Maxey. In these pages the sites are featured in photographs taken during site visits as an individual and with groups such as the Bronze Age Studies Group and the Prehistoric Society. A number of well known archaeologists can be identified and it is hoped that the images will be useful for those studying and teaching the history of archaeology!
