These are specifically about prehistoric archaeology in the county or relate to the East Midlands region and have content related to Lincolnshire. Not included are publications from the surrounding counties which place the Lincolnshire material in a broader context e.g. Fengate in Cambridgeshire. General publications on prehistory are not listed, these can be found by searching the online catalogues of the the British and Irish Archaeological Bibliography, Society of Antiquaries and university libraries. The list is not intended to be exhaustive and reflects my own research interests which span the palaeolithic to around 150 BC.
Since 1990 there has been a dramatic increase in the numbers of reports produced in connection with statutory planning processes. These are often referred to as ‘grey literature’ and represent a vast body of archaeological data. You can consult these at the Historic Environment Records held by Lincolnshire County Council, North Lincolnshire Council and North-East Lincolnshire Council or online through the Archaeology Data Service.
